Sorry but SOME FISHERMEN ARE NOT ON THIS PLANET.

1. RUBBISH LEFT ON THE BEACH

At least 25% of the rubbish left on the beach in winter is left by fishermen. Please understand that the local authority can make it impossible to fish in areas along the beach.

2. INDISCRIMINATE  KILLING OF MARINE LIFE.

Fishermen have been known to kill crabs  because their bait has been taken by one. This

is lunacy. (Put a small cork by the bait to raise it off the sea bed).

The crab is the mainstay food for fish. Kill the crab kill the fish.

The eggs from the scorpion fish which used to adorn the piers and rocks are now nearly all disappeared. These eggs attracted and fed the shoals of Bass. The cause is that the local fishermen killing them mistakenly confusing them with a poisonous fish because of its looks.

Dog fish have also suffered in the hands of boatmen in the area. Put it back.

3. UNDERSIZED FISH.

Most if not all the fish stocks in the sea are in crisis due to over fishing.

Local fishermen in Portsmouth in the sixties could expect to take home a large fish once in a while. It was rare that you blanked.

Now its a novelty to get a bite.

When you catch a fish the excitement rules your heart and even the small fish is considered a great catch and is taken.

There is no excuse to take undersized fish home. The one fish you take home could be the parent to millions of others kill it and you kill the future. Local inshore fish need to breed. Go to a fish shop, Take a camera. Pictures last longer.
